Breast cancer originates in breast cells. Cancerous (malignant) tumor is a group of cancer cells that can invade and destroy nearby tissues.. It can also spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body.

It is most common in women. In France, in 2018, the annual number of new cases of breast cancer in women was 58,459.

Breast cancer hits African women hard. The mortality rate from breast cancer is the highest in the world. Every year, this cancer kills nearly 90,000 women on the continent, including at least 75,000 in sub-Saharan Africa.. Of these, half are under 50 years old.
